This is one of two EGR solenoids used if your 6.5TD is equipped with an EGR valve (tower on very top of intake manifold) The solenoids are located on a bracket attached to the intake manifold, right over the rear of the drivers side valve cover. There are 3 solenoids on that bracket. The rear two are EGR solenoids and the front one is your wastegate solenoid (check p/n ssd-227 or 255 for those) This solenoid pictured is the rear most solenoid with the red dot on top. Although it looks identical to the other two, it differs internally and also in function and will not work in any other position. It is recommended to always replace both EGR solenoids as a pair as if one is bad, the other one isn't far behind and will just bite you later down the road. Replace the EGR solenoids when the check engine light is coming on and storing any of the EGR codes such as 31, 32, 33, 44 and 45 on 94-95 thrucks, and codes P0400, 401, 402, 404, 405, and 406 on 96 and newer vehicles. Usually when tripping these codes, the light will come on intermittantly. Installs in minutes. Check vacuum pump pressure also. Should be 20"+ at idle. We sell vac pumps also if needed. |
